Case Study: 154-lot strata building with 213 car spaces in Meadowbank, NSW
Project overview
A 154-lot strata building with 213 car spaces across three underground parking levels deployed Ready Steady Plug EV charging, despite having no Wi-Fi or cellular coverage in the car park. The initial rollout covered 13 car spaces, with the system designed to scale to full coverage over time.
The situation
The building wanted to support EV charging but faced practical constraints. Underground parking had no data connectivity, the Owners Corporation wanted to keep upfront costs low, and any solution needed to allow future expansion without reworking infrastructure.
The approach
Ready Steady Plug was deployed using a Charging as a Service model. This allowed the Owners Corporation to install core infrastructure with modest upfront spend, while future installations are funded by end users as demand grows.
The setup
The deployment included:
Smart Level 1 charging using standard 15A, 3.6 kW charge points
Preconfigured EV Distribution Boards and communications equipment
Full system design, scope, and installation guidance
Installation and commissioning were completed by an independent, trusted integrator. EVDBs were built by an ASX-listed switchboard manufacturer, with RCD protection on every circuit. The system operates without any car-park-wide Wi-Fi or cellular coverage.
How it’s managed
Energy metering and dynamic load management are handled centrally. Charging usage is individually measured and billed, and additional charge points can be added independently as demand increases.
The outcome
The building delivered EV charging across multiple underground levels with minimal upfront cost for the Owners Corporation. There are no ongoing fixed costs as EV uptake grows, and the solution remains scalable and manageable long-term.
